Discovering Your Passions…An Exercise in Discovery

March 9. 2012

An awesome sunset after a fantastic day with my mom and my friend Glenn Clayton.

Life is funny, how it works, what you think you will do and the wisdom we gain as we grow older. I just had my 51st birthday on August 31st and I am happier than I have ever been because I love what I do and it is wonderful to see what I built over the last 4 years really paying off.
I had no idea what a blog was and now on “Cooking Up a Storm All Over The World!” there are 200 members from all over the world, and it continually grows.
The CA Restaurant Show Case has built momentum and the services I offer my clients has grown because I am constantly learning and growing and becoming and I talk to a ton of people who are all goal-oriented, but good people.
In life you can have lots of money and still be a loser, I have known lots of them. I won’t call my ex a loser, but in essence he became one. He had the money, the house, and total success with his job, but he was the last to know it.
If you have lots of money but treat people like garbage, you are not a success in life. People such as this lower people to try and meet their lowly status, so they don’t feel so low. They think it works but it makes them only look meager and stupid.

After I became somewhat of a displaced worker not being able to support myself in Garden Grove, the neighborhood that “didn’t want a white teacher”, and after the police said my piano teacher’s sign went against some sort of stupid ordinance, I felt it was unfair but after a neighbor hacked the thing down, with out my permission, I found other things to do like what I currently do-Writing, food writing in particular, marketing, and photography.

I enjoy what I do but to get there took a lot of soul-searching.

In this first exercise, I am going to ask you to answer these questions on using a word processing program like MS Word, and write in the answers to:

What do you enjoy doing most?

What do you feel you have a special talent for?

Do you like working with people?

Do you enjoy working alone?

After answering these questions, then answer this one:

If you could do anything in the world for work, what would it be and why?

Then, wait until you see what you will uncover. You will be uncovering the very thing that will put into play the way you will earn a living doing what you love to do.

This is  a proven fact: Those who do what they love excel at whatever they do. It is your passion.

The trick is to do what you love and just happen to earn a living doing it.

How do you do that?

Once you determine what your passions are, learn everything you can about that field and begin joining groups where you can meet others who are like-minded. Start talking to people who are at the top of their industry and find out how they did it.

Step 3 is to only associate with positive people and do not tell what you are doing to anyone who is not open-minded and positive. Otherwise you will be setting yourself up to failure and negative programming.

I removed all negativity from my life and people who were abusive. It took removing a brother who was verbally abusive and didn’t care about seeking help, but I did it and removed bleeding ulcers with it.

I was married to a real rocket scientist for 15 years and I became an artistic person who can think very logically. Some times the easiest way to accomplish something, and in this case, be very selective about who you associate with, is to remove the person out of your life.

Do you know why you should remove people who are abusive physically or verbally? Because they HURT YOU. They either mess with your mind or your body and you don’t need either! Cast them into the sea and bury them. When you do this, do you know what happens?
You feel better, as though you had a weight lifted.
I know because I have 3 family members who are like this and I removed them, and got rid of bleeding ulcers with by doing it.
I speak from experience, and I wish I didn’t but I do. Good news is, I came out the other end and not only survived but THRIVED.
When you elimate the junk out of your life, be it people or stuff, you free yourself for POSITIVITY TO COME INTO YOUR LIFE. YOU WILL THINK CLEARER, MOVE FASTER, AND FEEL YOUNGER WHEN YOU ARE NOT CARRYING AROUND A LEAD WEIGHT ON YOUR LEG OR YOUR SPIRIT.
I DID IT.
IT WORKS.

I only associate with people who are:

Kind

Caring

Compassionate People

Who Care about the World Around Them

Children

The Environment

Animals

and they avoid anything that can damage who they are or alter their state of being like drugs and alcohol or cigarettes.

By avoiding these things, it shows you care about yourself and want to make in investment in yourself so you will be here for the “long haul”, so to speak.

So, I will leave you with these thoughts and hope that you will not only try this very telling and informative excercise, but that it helps those who read it.

It can be transformational. I have had 3 people do this exercise and they told me I was in the wrong line of work and said I should be a Life Coach. Well, my book is being written daily, and that could be where my story is heading.

Until the next installment of Totally Inspired Mind, I would love you to tell others about this blog and hopefully add your positive words and helpful information as well.
